I'm really steaming ahead with my 2nd project, due March 22. If all goes well, this 1 project will actually be 2 - just as the Feb 22 project ended up being the start of an "I Like Purple" series. I wonder how that happens? Anyway, here's my progress report on part 1 - the Hippie Bus. This first picture is the bus I'm using as a model.
This 2nd picture is my photoshopped draft from which I will redesign the bus.
Now came the part where I started cutting out fusible fabrics to assemble the bus in fabric, in color!
I had envisioned a road of green descending from a sunrise, but discovered that I'd made the bus facing the wrong direction relative to the road. sigh. I know there are artists out there who know exactly how their project is going to look, before they even begin, but I just can't seem to get that. Everything's happening in my head! The few times I've attempted to begin with a sketch, I still end up changing it, kind of like what happens to the banana bread recipe that ends up with flax seeds, blueberries, and coconut in it!! I created the background out of some interesting fabrics that struck a chord in me, machine applique-ing the turned edges. But I wanted to let you know how the hippie bus quilt is progressing and here it is!
