Why 22? I like the looks of it, AND I began this process on Jan 22. So, what have I been accomplishing? The 1st project has become a series. the "I like purple" series, centered around images of my granddaughter, Mady. My original starting place was Laura Wasilowski's book about fused journal quilts, as pictured in http://chuckncindy.blogspot.com, and all the entries are supposed to be either 12x12 or 8x11 to go into the 2 scrapbooks I keep. For the most part, I'm sticking to that plan, but not all the projects will fit in those sizes, nor will they all be fused. I have done no embellishing or quilting on them yet, but 2 quilt tops are done and another is in the works. The 1st one is an 8x11 inch page of Mady when she was 1 yr old sitting on the floor reading a book of "Kid's Prayers".
The second in the series is a 12x12 portrait using 2 purple fabrics, 1 white, and 1 pink. It's cropped from a picture taken during a photo shoot with her twin siblings when Mady was 2, and at this point she was ready to go play, or eat, or SOMETHING! The b&w images are a couple of the computer printouts that I used to decide values (dark, medium, and light)
The 3rd in the series, that I'm in the middle of, is based on Mady's eyes, taken from the same digital picture from number 2, above. Each eye will be 8x11. (and yes - these are truly her eyes from the above photo with zero tweeking other than a few filters to give me the values!)
Below is the freezer paper parts, numbered and ironed to the 3 values of purple. These aren't fusible, but will be cut out, assembled like a jigsaw, glued and then quilted.
