My last song is actually one of my alltime favorites. I've always loved to play almost any arrangement of it I can get my hands on. This arrangement is by Eugenie Rocherolle.
Boy can I tell that people are getting busy. Fewer people checking out blogs, posting on Facebook, etc. I've 2 more songs to post - Today is an arrangement of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer I've had since I was a kid! Every year I stumble through it a few times, and play it at the nursing home here in town. Somehow, I never get really good at it, but it sure is fun!

There are as many versions of the origin of this tune as there are gray hairs on my head! Today, though, it is associated with Christmas, and all of my students enjoy playing this song.
This is an arrangement of the favorite carol, by Jerry Ray. I like his arrangements because they sound clean and simple, with little fanfare. Sometimes during the holidays, simple and clean is a great relief!

I thought I'd explain a bit why I'm posting a song a day of me playing the piano. I know my music isn't recording level at this stage of my life, but it's important to me, part of me, yet I find myself finding reasons NOT to go into the studio to play! That saddens me, and I've decided that one way to get myself back in there, and reacquaint myself with my piano, is to promise to post a recording a day til Christmas, Christmas music being among my all time favorites for playing. So please excuse the mistakes, and the tempo "diversions"! I will continue to learn new songs, even, hopefully, compose, during 2011 and get back to the level I was, skill-wise, when I graduated from college. In the meantime I've recorded a Martha Mier arrangement of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.
Here's a song I've really enjoyed playing from the Martha Mier's "Christmas Jazz, Rags, and Blues" Book 3. I recorded myself with a zoom H2 recorder, and trimmed the audio file with GarageBand.
