Have you ever wondered if your piano lessons are working? Is your piano lesson experience as good as it can be? One of the things I promise new students is the fast track to being a really great pianist in a relatively short amount of time. Having been raised in the traditional piano lesson environment, I know firsthand how unbearably long it takes to get really good - and I know what I'm talking about now, as a Simply Music teacher, when I say it doesn't have to take that long, because I've taught some students who in a fraction of the time have become great pianists, some of whom are even better than I am and are still in Jr High!
Potluck Creative Arts has made available a report card that you can freely download, with a list of 10 success factors that you can grade yourself on. You grade yourself with a scale of 1-10, where a 10 means "I'm doing everything my teacher asks me to do". Things like lesson participation, using ALL of the student home materials correctly, and learning a way of learning, ie, mastering the TOOLS that are introduced in the lesson like verbalizations. What a great way to grade yourself, and to judge whether you are doing everything you can do to achieve the most success, with the quickest and easiest progress.
